Get Advice at Hove YMCA

Please come down to our advice centres and talk to an advisor. We have workers who can advise or support you on sexual health, bullying, education, employment, money, parents, families or just to have a chat. We won't pass on any information about you without your permission (unless we believe you are at risk of harm or someone else could be).

Our main centres for advice and support are:

• Housing Services Drop In: Hove YMCA's Housing Advice Centre has a free and confidential drop-in service to help 16-25 year olds who are in housing need or have problems with their housing in the Brighton & Hove area. Workshop InviteFriday 14th December 2007 at 9 -12.30pm at Hove YMCA, Marmion Road, This is a free workshop.

Hove YMCA is facilitating a workshop for professionals working with young people and families in Brighton & Hove. The workshop will provide delegates with an understanding of the triggers of homelessness and will support them in identifying those young people at possible risk of future homelessness. Participants will develop an increased awareness of current homelessness legislation and of the housing options available to young people


Homeless Prevention has become an increasing priority for local authorities and voluntary agencies over the past couple of years. Young people, particularly those aged under 18, are a group that has been identified at being at a greater risk than the general population and in Brighton and Hove this is a high concern. Hove YMCA housing advice service saw nearly 800 young people access their drop-in in 2006/7, one third were aged 16 and 17 years old. Family and friend eviction was the main reason cited for homelessness in 54% of these cases, rising to 70% in under 18’s. Nationally it is the third reason.

World Mental Health Day started in 1992. It was started as an annual activity of the World Federation for Mental Health. The day is officially commemorated every year on October 10th.

The Mental Health Foundation celebrates World Mental Health Day each year, using it as an opportunity to communicate with the general public about mental health issues.

In Brighton & Hove Young people are already communicating their experiences of mental health services in order to educate mental health professionals. Experience in Mind is a unique and innovative project delivered by Hove YMCA in partnership with Mind in Brighton and Hove.

Sport With Hove YMCAHove YMCA have professional, experienced coaches who can deliver exciting sports programmes in your school.

What we offer:

• We are able to deliver extended schools programmes, curriculum based sessions and PPA cover

Sports Coaching at the Hove YMCA

The Sports Leaders Programme offers young people the chance to learn invaluable skills whilst taking responsibilty in a secure environment supervised by experienced coaches. We are an accrediated centre delivering a range of sport leader UK sport leadership award programme.

Hove YMCA Connect ClubIf you are between 16 and 25 and currently not working, or not in education or training then pop in! The Connect Job Club is a friendly place to meet and chat, individually or in small groups, with people who can help.

Hove YMCA in East BrightonThe Youth Inclusion Project (YIP & YIP+) in East Brighton is a small, friendly team offering free support to young people who are getting into trouble, or ‘at risk' of getting in trouble, through anti-social or offending behaviour either with the Police, Community Safety Team or at their school. We work with young people aged between 8-17 years old living in the East Brighton area (Bates Estate, Higher Bevendean, Manor Place, Moulsecoomb, Saunders Park & Whitehawk).
