Volunteer Opportunities

Want to get involved in your local community? Can you offer some of your time enthusiastically and regularly? If so, there are so many ways to get involved in all our different projects at Hove YMCA.

  • Work with Young People in our youth clubs, Youth Inclusion Project, or housing projects.

  • Work with Older People in the lunch club or weekly creative activities

  • Get Sporty! With children and young people in our schools, holiday and community projects.

  • Inform and Advise young people in our drop-in, housing services or job

    clubs in one of our advice centers.

  • Give Up Your Time at one of our shops.

Support for Volunteers

We value our volunteers and want to offer each individual the support needed for an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for volunteers, staff and service users. We offer

  • Comprehensive induction
  • Appropriate training
  • Regular support from your supervisor, staff and other volunteers
  • Accreditation including UK Youth Achievement Awards, Brighton & Hove Youth Awards, Sports Leaders Awards and Duke of Edinburgh Awards
  • Reimbursement of reasonable expenses
  • Discounts at Hove YMCA shops!
  • Volunteer celebration events

Additionally, we have two specific volunteer projects to help with recruitment, the application process, coordinating opportunities and ongoing support and recognition.

  • Project V encouraging and supporting 16-25 year olds to volunteer in Hove YMCA

  • Older Peoples Programme supporting people over 60 years old into volunteering opportunities in Hove YMCA and other organisations

Having worked in the business world for many years I wanted to test myself in a completely different environment. Hove YMCA appealed to me as it is physically right in the heart of the community and has a wide scope in terms of the projects with which it is involved. I have had the chance to meet many people and have witnessed first hand the commitment and value that the organization brings to the local area
