NEW & EXCITING! Housing Advice Volunteers @ Ovest House, West Street

Due to high demand, Housing Services are looking to recruit 2 volunteers to assist the Private Rented Sector (PRS) Development worker. Help young people gain the skills to look for appropriate accommodation, make phone calls and understand what to look for when viewing a property. You will be offered a full induction, training and supervision, nice offices in the centre of town with a lovely, friendly team!


Experience in working with young people, using the internet and housing/renting would all be useful. CRB required. If you can offer a couple of hours a week and think you have the experience we are looking for please give us a ring.

YOUTH

ParkSafe Volunteer @ Stoneham Park, Marmion Rd


ParkSafe has started again this summer and we need volunteers to help staff deliver mixed sports and youth activities and keep the park safe! Older People's Club

Older Peoples Lunch Club Assistant @ Y-Centre, Marmion Rd

ORGANISATIONAL

Staff Newsletter Contributor @ Y-Centre, Marmion Rd


Help contribute to the staff newsletter and gain valuable skills. You could be going out into the different projects and finding the latest news piece, interviewing staff and assisting with the design and editing. Contact our marketing and development worker at volunteering@hoveymca.org.uk

 


COMMERCIAL SERVICES


If you’re interested in volunteering in the shops, please call 01273 885505. Volunteers receive lunch allowances of £3.50 per full day plus travel expenses.

Volunteer Shop Assistant


Give some time to one of our shops and help raise money vital to the running of our projects. You could work in a variety of different shops - clothing and bric-a-brac, furniture or electrical.

Electrical “Behind the Scenes” Assistant @ Electrical Shop, Blatchington Road

Bring your electrical skills or interests to the shops and help staff recondition electrical donations for re-sale. We can offer training on the job in basic electrical engineering alongside shop experience.


HOUSING

Y-Dig It Allotment Volunteers

Come and put your green fingers to the test in our allotment! Enjoy the sun whilst helping housing project staff and clients in our allotment in Portslade. We need help on Wednesdays for a couple of hours to keep the garden growing. For more information check out the allotment webpage and contact vvolunteering@hoveymca.org.uk.

Housing Recreational Activities Volunteers

Could you run activities for young people in our supported housing projects? We’re looking for motivated volunteers to put on games nights, assist in sports activities or any other fun nights for the young residents. You will be supported by staff workers, flexible evening hours available. Contact volunteering@hoveymca.org.uk for more information.


COUNSELLING

Volunteer Honorary Counsellor


If you are on a Diploma level (or similar) training course or a qualified counsellor wishing to work towards accreditation, you can apply for a counseling placement with us. Placements can be in the Community, Primary or Secondary School setting working with 5-25 year olds.
