The Brighton Marathon - Sunday 18th April 2010

Here is your chance to take part in Brighton's very first Marathon!

The first Brighton Marathon takes place on Sunday 18th April 2010.  This is the perfect Marathon for those who have missed out on a place in the London Marathon or who are looking for a smaller crowd to run in! There are just 12,000 places available in the Brighton Marathon, made up of 9,000 individual places and 3,000 guaranteed Charity places.

The Marathon is being held exclusively on roads and tarmac so it will be quite a fast course.  There are some undulations on the route, particularly in the first half, but runners will be pleased to hear that the second half of the race is very flat!  The course begins at Preston Park, then heads down the London Road to the Royal Pavillion and The Level before taking a breathtaking swing out to Ovingdean and Rottingdean.  The runners will then return to central Brighton along the sea front and take a route up through the edges of Hove in the West before returning to the sea front and a spectacular finish on Madeira Drive.

For further information on the Brighton Marathon course please take a look at the race organiser's website at: www.brightonmarathon.co.uk

How to get your guaranteed place in the 2010 Brighton Marathon

To secure your place in the 'Team Y' for the inaugural Brighton Marathon or you need to do is fill out the application form and send it to us with your registration fee of £50.

'Through the Mind's Eyes II' is an exhibition of creative work produced by young volunteers from the Experience in Mind project, who work to raise awareness about young people's mental health issues.  The collection, which includes animations and photography, visually represents young people's individual experiences of mental health and aims to challenge stereotypes and reduce stigma about issues that are so often hidden.

Please forward this to any colleagues, volunteers, young people or friends who you think may be interested.  Come along for a drink and a chat, and support the project in making this a really good event!

This is a free event and all are welcome.  For more information please email: info@experienceinmind.co.uk or visit: www.experienceinmind.co.uk

Experience in Mind is run in partnership between Sussex Central YMCA and Mind in Brighton & Hove, and is a Vinvolved project, which is part of Vinvolved's national youth volunteering programme.
