Hove YMCA provides a range of services to help young people in their transition between dependence and independence, allowing them to develop independent living skills, find suitable accommodation and sustain a tenancy on their own.
This year has been highly successful for Sussex Central YMCA's housing services as they continue to help young people struggling with the economic issues affecting employment, housing and access to education.
Hove YMCA's supported housing especially helps young people to move from crisis point to independence though three levels of support:
- Two high support hostels with 24 hour staff support on site
- Two medium support hostels with staff support on site within office hours
- Three hostels with low level floating support
There is also independent accommodation for young people in the form of a flat share.
The young people accommodated within Sussex Central YMCA supported housing schemes have access to:
- Regular one to one key working
- Advice and support to access employment education or training
- Access to basic numeracy and literacy learning program
- An individual support plan with mutually agreed goals and deadlines
- Reward scheme including trips to the cinema, bowling and theme parks
