Skillz 4 Life
Skillz 4 Life is an 11 week course for young people covering a diverse range of topics from practical advice on tenancy and budgeting to drugs, alcohol and relationships. There will also be an opportunity for 1-to-1 sessions with specialized advice on areas such as building a CV or finding a flat.

The next course starts on 8th October 2008; every Wednesday 5.45pm-8pm. Refreshments will be provided and bus fare will be reimbursed (you will need to show a bus ticket).

Our course is designed with young people in mind and young people can dip into any session/s they are interested in OR complete the whole course to gain an Open College Network Award!
October Course Sessions and Dates:
- 8th October: Introduction- a chance for YP to find out more about the course and meet the team.

15th October: Keeping the Peace – relationships and conflict resolution
- 22nd October: Picking a pad – what you need to know about privately renting

29th October: Keeping a roof over your head – maintaining your tenancy, knowing your rights

5th November: The world is your oyster – Exploring aspirations for the future and setting goals

12th November: Work it out! – Looking at options available and how to achieve them

19th November: Money, money, money – general money advice, bank accounts

26th November: Every penny counts – saving and budgeting money

3rd December: Mood, munch and motivation – healthy living

10th December: Is the grass always greener? – drugs and alcohol

17th December: Baggin’ the bling and saying your thing – cheap and free stuff to do in Brighton and feeding back about the course
One week will also be open for YP to have one-2-one sessions with a worker. This is for extra advice/support on any of the topics above or for help in completing their portfolio (required for end of course assessment).
The course will be accredited by the OCN so YP can gain a qualification. After attendance of the course there will also be an opportunity to become a peer volunteer to help with future courses.
