Hove YMCA VolunteersThe International Volunteer Day (IVD) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 17 December 1985. Since then, governments, the UN system and civil society organizations have successfully joined volunteers around the world to celebrate the Day on 5 December. Volunteers form a crucial part of Hove YMCA services and make up around 50% of our staff team. Volunteers give their time and energy to every part of our organisation from teaching dance in the youth clubs through to 121 support in our advice drop-in. Our youngest volunteer is 13 years old and our oldest is 86 years old!
A Day in the Life: A Snapshot of Volunteers at Hove YMCA
Volunteer in our Digital WorkshopTaking a snapshot of volunteers, we rang round on Tuesday last week and discovered there were 20 volunteers involved in our services that day. They were in our youth clubs doing arts and crafts, they were in our shops helping sell our new and used goods, they were advising young people in our drop-in and they were even acting as trustees on our board. In total their time amounted to over 100 hours – showing that we really couldn’t run Hove YMCA without volunteers!
So we’d like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers!
