Hove YMCA Volunteers
National Volunteers' Week, from the 1st to 7th June, is the annual celebration of volunteering. National Volunteer Week website. To mark National Volunteers’ Week, Hove YMCA asked a volunteer to interview some of the many volunteers from across the organisation to show the wide ranging and varied work the volunteers do and how they contribute to the work of Hove YMCA.
Hove YMCA now has more than 90 volunteers ranging from the youngest at 14 to the oldest at 86! The volunteers work in all the different areas of the organisation, making a huge difference and doing it all for free.
“We really value all our volunteers at Hove YMCA and would like to say a great big thank you to them during this special week and beyond!” said Bethan Prosser, Youth Volunteering Coordinator. “Our youth volunteering project, funded by v, aims to inspire and support young people to get involved in delivering our services. So if you’re aged between 16-25 years old and these interviews spark your interest, get in touch – through our website or phone 01273 715432”.
Haeji, who is studying pharmaceutical science at Brighton University, was the volunteer reporter for this article and interviewed 6 volunteers from across the organisation. She says that she ‘wanted to volunteer for Hove YMCA in order to improve her communication skills and gain good experience for future work’.
